Dr. Furman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music, a Master’s degree in Counseling and a Doctorate degree in Psychology. Dr. Furman is certified as an Imago Relationship Therapist by Imago Relationship International.
She is licensed by the State of Michigan and accepts a variety of insurances. . Dr. Furman is listed with several insurance providers responding to critical incidents and emergency situations on the job including; bank robberies, death on the job or off the work location, suicide, shootings, accidents, and various other stress filled events.
She is also an Employee Assistance Program provider listed with numerous businesses and corporations providing outpatient mental health services in the office and onsite.
Professional Experience
Dr. Furman has created a workshop entitled, “Putting Your Best Foot Forward” which focused on Poise and Confidence, Interviewing Skills and Techniques, Workplace Professionalism, Sexual Awareness, and Etiquette. And she has been an Adjunct Instructor at Henry Ford Community College, a Lecturer for Michigan Rehabilitation Services on Leadership Principles for African American women and Recruiting and Retaining a Diverse Workforce in the 21st Century, The Relationship between Addiction and Mental Health Issues, Boosting Employee Moral, and Understanding Youth & Disability. Other training programs that she has presented included: Behavioral Management and Professionalism and Mentoring, Modeling and Monitoring, Conflict Resolution, How Acquired Belief control Your Effectiveness to name a few.
Dr. Furman published a booklet entitled, “Interview Etiquette.”This effort assisted High School Counselors with preparing youth with pursuing their first jobs. Dr. Furman completed the Counselor Supervision training program approved to supervise Limited License Professional Counselors.
Dr. Furman provided counseling services to students at Detroit Job Corps, and she has been a training consultant for teachers at John C. Marshall Elementary School and at Kaplan Career Institute. She has also provided “Soft Skill Training” to Harmony Point Computer Training School students.
Various church members from Hartford Memorial Baptist Church, Triumph Church, Twelfth Street Missionary Baptist Church and others worship locations have significantly benefited from the Relationship workshops for couples provided by Dr. Furman.
Dr. Furman for the past several years was a regular contributor as the Psychologist on Call “on the Angelo Henderson “Your Voice” WCHB News Talk 1200AM radio show.
